FEATURED FRIDAY
Today’s “Featured Friday” we highlight a father son duo with some great friends. Burt and Ryan VanBennekom with help from friends Randy Cook, Terry Wies, and Steve Morris have manufactured one fascinating machine!
Burt (father) and Ryan (son) share the drive time of the vehicle. Ryan drives it naturally aspirated usually in the “Quick 16” class at most tracks whereas Burt drives it with a hefty shot of nitrous and steps up to the ranks of the “Top Eliminator” class. Just 3 weeks ago, Burt ran its quickest pass at 2.894!
The VanBennekom’s dragster is made with a 407ci small block Mopar that was based off of a 340. All aluminum with a cast aluminum intake, SMR transmission, Tranzact transbreak, and machine work done by Dowker Engines. The dragster weighs in at just over 1,300 lbs.
