Motorcycle Sport 1

Saturday morning kicked off with Motorcycle Sport racing action. As eliminations began, points champions would fall. Wesley Fuller went out early leaving the class wide open. It come down to a decision between Motorcycle Pro 1 Champ Tyler Hanrahan and DJ Noerr on his single cylinder entry. DJ would hand it away on just a -0.006 redlight leaving Tyler Hanrahan the win in Motorcycle Sport 1.

Motorcycle Sport 2

Motorcycle Sport 2 saw a low entry forcing Mings Racing to face each other first round. Caleb was able to get passed his father Randy and head into the final to defend his Motorcycle Sport 2 title. Marcus Reidel would take out Tyler Hanrahan ensuring Tyler could not double up. The final between Caleb Mings and Marcus Riedel would be another final decided by the redlight as Caleb would go -0.013 red handing the win over to Riedel who also went a little early at the tree.

Junior Dragster Showdown

The specialty junior dragster showdown class was another huge success in 2020 with a full field of junior dragsters, mini Jeeps, and UTVs. The final would come down to two regulars in the class with Lily Garcia in the “Turtle Gone Wild” junior dragster versus Aruora Blevins in her junior Jeep. Lily ended up having issues down track and ran way off her dial, but Aurora wouldn’t see it in time and went to quick running a 8.619 on her 8.69 dial giving the win over to Lily.

Sport 1

Sport 1 saw a great field of mixed entries. The Ohio travelers would finally see some retribution as Nick Manlove in the “Her Idea” mud racing style dragster seemed to be on an absolute tear through the California field. He would find his match though against the Durning Motorsports dragster piloted by Ryan Bucklar in the final. Nick would tree Ryan (0.030RT to 0.079RT), but would be a little further off his dial allowing Bucklar to drive around him for the win.

Sport 2

Sport 2 was another solid field here in Southern California. Luz Malan in the Sand Mule buggy found herself in a familiar spot in the final against Don Brisbin in his Jeep. Neither competitor had stellar lights, but it would be decided on a breakout as Luz would go just a bit too quick 5.032 on hr 5.05 dial giving the win to Don.

Top Eliminator Q3

The third round of Top Eliminator qualifying would roll around noon at the San Jacinto race facility. It would continue the trend of the second qualifying session with many of the entries running too quick. Mark Punos was unable to back down his Vegas based dragster running just a tad too quick at 2.930 up against Naffziger. Aaron Bailey would shock the crowd as he went 2.888. Kyle Farwick was scheduled to run against him, but couldn’t get the car fired at first. Kyle then came out and ran a solo pass at a blistering 2.895 indicating the Farwick/ Callahan team may be trying to gun for some world records rather than a top qualifying position. Tommy Zavala would improve his qualifying time to a 3.263 as he still fine tunes the new setup. Paul Graham waited in the back of lanes to see if anyone would top his number one spot and when it came his turn to make a pass, the car made a violent turn towards the guar rail forcing him to back out to a 3.189. Jim Naffziger would come out of the session with the best ET still within the Index with a 3.017.

Q3 Results:

1. Paul Graham 2.959
2. Jim Naffziger 2.965
3. Aaron Bailey 2.996
4. Mark Punos 3.005

6. Kyle Farwick 5.278

As the Motorcycle Gambler and Sport UTV test and tune began to kick off the second half of Saturday racing action, a malfunction in the timing system cause racing to stop. A new timing system would be able to be brought for Sunday action. The day finished out with open test and tune arm drop grudge matches from all sorts of competitors.
