Saturday May 23rd, 2020

Today’s plate would be filled with the kids classes, along with MASDS Points Class, Pro 2 ATV, and index classes.
The 12 & younger Pee Wees class would take the stage at 9am this Saturday morning. The big winner in this class was Jessa Mansfield, defeating Bodi Smithart, and winning her first ever race!
Jessa told Billy Teters, our WSDN Reporter, in a quick interview that her favorite part of this race was “winning” and “coming to Oklahoma”. She would win $40 along with her trophy as there were a few sponsors who added money into the Pee Wees Class.

The Driver’s Meeting was short to follow the Pee Wees class and time trials for Pro 2 ATV and the 15 & younger, Juniors class began afterward.
Both classes would complete their two time trials and as they were turning in their dial ins, the 3rd Qualifying session for TA & TE and final session for Unlimited ATV would hit the lanes. Jeremy Click, Russ Payne, and Jeff Sieg would join the field and make their first qualifying attempts, making it a 16 car TE field!

Jeff would break into the 2 second zone but running a little too quick with a 2.94 on the 2.95 Index. This would put him at the bottom of the qualifying list. John Pate would jump to the #3 position with a 2.97 run in this session. A 4th Session would be run later on, but Unlimited ATV made their last qualifier in this session.

No changes would be made in the qualifying order and the UATV Class was as follows:

Unlimited ATV
1. Nick Allen – 3.28
2. Chris Carlson – 3.29
3. Joseph Evans – 3.42
4. Mike Brock – 3.474
5. Bobby Kincaid – 3.76
6. Michael Hopkins – 3.90

Pro 2 ATV & Juniors would run out their first two rounds before Pro 1 Cars/ATVs & Pro 2 Cars made their first time trial. Those classes would their second time trial the next morning.

Top Eliminator would run their 4th and final session after these time trials, while Unlimited ATV ran their first round.
The TE order had no changes after the 4th session and was as follows:

Top Eliminator
1: Pat Ross – 2.963
2: Terry Glasscock – 2.965
3: John Pate – 2.97
4: Wade Schulz – 2.981
5: Mark Punos – 2.989
6: John Acker – 3.01
7: Dennis Burrows – 3.09
8: Jeremy Click – 3.12
9: Russ Payne – 3.22
10: Randy Kimbley – 3.287
11: Kevin Kabrick – 3.287
12: Jim Naffziger – 3.29
13: Russ Bailey – 3.33
14 Kenny Kapple – 3.43
15: Pruett Schulz – 3.44
16: Jeff Sieg – 2.94

First round of UATV would see #1 Qualifier, Nick Allen, and #2 Qualifier, Chris Carlson receive bye runs to make the field an even four going into the semi-finals.
Nick Allen would muster a 3.53 on his bye run, getting very close the the center line and showing his great riding skills to avoid a DQ. Chris Carlson would run a 3.78 on his bye run.

#3 Qualifier, Joseph Evans, would defeat #6 Qualifier, Michael Hopkins and #4 Qualifier, Mike Brock, would defeat the #5 Qualifier, Bobby Kincaid to wrap up round one.

The first two MASDS points classes, Pro 2 ATV & Juniors, would then run out the rest of their eliminations.
Craig McNiel would take the Pro 2 ATV over Randy Kimbley and Axel Smithart would take the win in Juniors over Alyssa Loudermilk.
We will see Craig next month at the B.A.D. Nationals in Grain Valley, MO to try to keep up his Pro 2 ATV points lead. Only time will tell of the Smithart’s will make the trip for Axel to defend his points lead in Juniors.
You can bet defending Pro 2 ATV Champ, Jamie Winsor and defending Juniors points champ, Amaya Hernandez will be there.

Unlimited ATV semi-finals were next. #1 Qualifier, Nick Allen would defeat #4 Qualifier, Mike Brock as Mike’s bike took to the air and as it came down, had some issues and couldn’t get the trike to continue down the track.
#2 Qualifier, Chris Carlson would have almost the exact same thing happen to him, which would hand the win over to #3 Qualifier, Joseph Evans.

The Index classes and Sportman cars class would run their first rounds and then Unlimited ATV was back up for the final round.
Nick Allen would have the same issue that plagued him all day, as he could not keep his turbo hayabusa quad on a straight pass, which would allow Joseph Evans to take the win in the inaugural UATV class on the Chris Spitali owned triple cylinder bike.
Joseph told WSDN that we could possibly see him in Grain Valley, MO next month for the second MASDS race.
