Friday May 22nd, 2020
The day started off earlier than originally scheduled due to impending storms forecasted throughout the weekend. Friday morning began with a four and a half hour Test & Tune session for the cars & ATVs to stretch their legs before competition as the Quick 16 classes were scheduled for that night. As you know, there hasn’t been any racing going on the past few months, so that prompted some Top Eliminator competitors to join in on the T&T session including Russ Bailey, Mark Punos, Jim Naffziger, and Terry Glasscock. Terry had an extraordinary run with a blistering 2.90 E.T. at 119mph in the turbo charged ford pinto combination. He will have to back that down a little to run TE this weekend. With a slew of competitors from Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona, Nevada, Ohio, Texas, and of course Missouri & Oklahoma this was a packed T&T session with nearly 70 entrants!
Top Eliminator & Unlimited ATV took the stage around 4PM for their first respective sessions. Twelve drivers in TE showed up for round 1 and only two were able to cross the 100 yard mark in under three seconds, which included Missouri’s Terry Glasscock and Texas’ Pat Ross. Both drivers ran 2.96 seconds with Pat running it with a 3 and Glasscock with a 5, giving Pat the number one spot for the round.
Unlimited ATV saw three competitors for their first session and all three were locals at Atoka Motorsports Park including Bobby Kincaid, Michael Hopkins, and Nick Allen. Bobby and Michael had an awesome side by side run with Kincaid running a 3.83 to Hopkins’ 3.90. Nick Allen would then take the stage in his turbo charged hayabusa quad, running his quickest time ever on that bike with a 3.28 at 100mph!This would lock him into the number one spot.
Top Alcohol saw only one entrant as Randy Kimbley sported his new “Flying High” wrap. The car did not shift, which caused Randy to lay down a 3.05 E.T.
There were some issues in the bracketing for the Fast 16 Classes, so the second session of TA/TE/UATV were advised to come back to staging.Texas’ Wade Schulz would be the third TE competitor to break into the 2 second zone with a 2.99, bringing him to the number 3 Qualifier. Kevin Kabrick joined the field but had some issues, mustering a 8.35 E.T. Session 2 of Unlimited ATV seen Joseph Evans and Mike Brock join the field. Joseph managed a 3.42 and Mike ran a 3.47, respectively. The qualifying order after day 1 is as follows:

Both Keith & Rodney went red against their respective competitors, which handed Wyatt and Les their passes into the final round. Said final round seen Wyatt, the upstart, out run Les, the veteran, and take the win in Quick 16 Cars. We will see Wyatt in Pro 1 Cars & 3.50 Index the rest of the weekend.
